GOOD TO KNOW

How a session works

An acupuncture session always begins with an in-depth consultation to understand your medical history, lifestyle, and current symptoms. This discussion allows us to establish a personalized energy diagnosis.
The practitioner then examines the patient's pulse and tongue and performs certain palpations to refine their analysis. Once this energy assessment has been completed, fine, sterile, single-use needles are inserted into specific points on the body with the aim of restoring energy balance (Qi). The insertion of the needles is generally painless; a sensation of warmth, tingling, or lightness may sometimes be felt. The session takes place in a calm setting and lasts between 45 and 60 minutes on average.

Best practices prior to the session

  • Have a light meal before your appointment (avoid coming on an empty stomach or after a heavy meal).

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms and legs.

  • Allow for some quiet time after the session to fully benefit from the effects of the treatment.

Some precautions to be aware of

  • Inform the practitioner of any ongoing medical treatments, as well as your medical history (pregnancy, coagulation disorders, chronic illnesses, etc.).

  • Avoid alcohol, coffee, or stimulants in the hours leading up to the session.

  • If you are very tired, have a fever or are not feeling well, inform the practitioner before the session.

  • Finally, it is best to postpone a session if you are menstruating, as the body is already in a natural regulation phase.
